A Winter Proposal | Heidi and Jalen | Hudson, Wisconsin

Jalen called me a couple days before he planned to propose to Heidi, and asked if I would be able to be there.  I was so happy this worked out.  And I was so happy that without ever having met me, he trusted me when I asked him to move up the proposal by an hour so we would still have a little daylight.  The spot he chose had absolutely stunning views of the St. Croix River and downtown Hudson.  Jalen had planned out the day so it would be one Heidi would never forget.  He had been in town visiting Heidi for the weekend and she had dropped him off at the airport earlier in the day.  He had even sent her a picture of himself on a plane before takeoff, only it had actually been taken days earlier when he arrived in town!  So Heidi was sure he was back in Chicago, while he had actually slipped back out the airport doors after she dropped him off, and had a ride waiting to take him to the proposal location.  He had twinkle lights wrapped around a tree, with the longest extension cord set-up I’ve ever seen, and lots of pictures of the two of them wrapped around the trunk as well.  Then there were mason jars with candles lining the walkway to the tree. It was seriously beautiful!

When Heidi arrived with her sister, she was so deep in conversation that it took her a couple minutes to realize what was going on.  While family and friends waited in the wooded area and I hid behind a tree near Jalen, Heidi walked through the snow with the sweetest smile on her face.  And when Jalen got down on one knee, it was pretty obvious that she was saying “Yes!”  And it was so cute how she couldn’t take her eyes off that beautiful ring!!  As people climbed out of the woods, there was lots of hugging and congratulating.   And then it was off to Pier 500 for dinner with more family and friends who were waiting for them.

Jalen, I can’t thank you enough for asking me to be a part of this!  And Heidi, you are absolutely beautiful inside and out.  I am so happy for the two of you!  And I can’t wait to see your love story continue!  Enjoy all of the wedding planning!!  XOXO
