Garrett and Heather | Annandale Wedding | Chi Rho Center

I first met Heather, the bride, a couple years ago when I photographed her friend and matron of honor, Carrie’s wedding.  And I first met her fiancé, Garrett, about 6 weeks before he married Heather!  They’ve been living in Colorado the last several years and just last week, because they had nothing else going on 😉 they moved to Minnesota.  Heather had talked to me by email and phone after getting engaged and I was so thrilled to be asked to shoot their wedding!  But at the time, I really had no idea how incredible this day was going to be.  Or how much I was going to absolutely love Heather and Garrett as a couple!  One coffee date with them together and I would have easily gone on a week long camping trip with them.  And I don’t camp!!!  They are seriously so much fun!

Heather and Garrett met in Longmont, CO.  They were doing a play together at the CA Theater called 37 Postcards and their characters were engaged to each other.  They introduced themselves to each other, went over lines and decided to carpool together to rehearsals.  Heather said that first night “I went home and said out loud to myself that I had to have this guy in my life, we would be friends for sure, and I added him on FB.”  Their first official date was a few weeks later when they went to a Comic Con convention called Star Fest.  I forgot to mention, Garrett LOVES comics!  They even dressed up in costume!

One of my favorite things about this wedding is the personal touches Heather and Garrett put into it to make it their own.  The bouquets and boutonnieres were handmade by Heather out of comic books!!  She actually finished making hers as her hair was being done that morning!  I love this girl!  And Garrett’s ring, is a batman ring!  How many husbands can say they have a metal batman ring as their wedding band?!!  Then add in a beautiful gift to Heather from her mother, a bracelet made of pearls and lace from her mom’s wedding dress.  There are just so many heartwarming touches to this day.  Three families came together, amazing friends and family in their wedding party and so many more who made this day one they will never forget!  And neither will I!  Thank you so much Heather and Garrett for asking me to be a part of it and to capture such amazing memories for you guys!  You two are simply the best!  XOXO
