Kayla and Eric | A Snowy Fall Wedding

Kayla and I had chatted a couple times during the week leading up to her wedding, and she was a little hesitant about the snow in the forecast.  But Kayla is one of those people that always looks at the bright side and has one of the most upbeat, positive personalities I have ever met.  She was marrying Eric and knew they would be surrounded by so many people they loved.  Nothing was going to change that.

Kayla and Eric met in 2010 through friends.  But while they went on a date and really enjoyed each other, distance kept them apart. They lived a few hours away from each other. So it wasn’t until a year later that they had their second “first date”!  Kayla said she felt so comfortable again and knew it felt right even though they still had the distance to overcome.  There were a lot of miles travelled the next couple years so they could spend weekends together.  Many of them were spent in Alexandria as Eric’s mom battled cancer.  It was during this time that Kayla realized what an amazing man Eric is.  “The love he had for his mom and how sweet he was to her was so heartwarming.  That was the first time I really thought, ‘he is the one.”  Eric’s mom passed away in 2012, however I know I’m not the only one who felt her presence throughout the entire wedding day.

The small amount of snow that had fallen had stuck just perfectly to the trees.  Between the fall colors and the snow, it was so beautiful.  And as Kayla and Eric read their notes to each other after their first look, it looked like a scene from a movie.

One thing that I learned in the last year since getting to know Eric and Kayla, aside from the fact that they are two of the sweetest, most genuine people you will ever meet, is that their families are really important to them.  So of course they played a huge part in their wedding day.  Their nieces and nephews were flower girls and ring bearers, cousins, an aunt and siblings were part of the wedding party and handed out programs, Eric’s uncle played the bagpipes as they left the wedding ceremony and Eric’s aunt, stepmom and sisters shared the mother-son dance with him. The day was full of so much love and joy.

I have no doubt that Judy was looking down on you with incredible pride, Eric and Kayla, and sending you all of her love.  Your wedding day was exactly what dreams are made of.  Love you both!  XOXO

Minnesota Wedding | Cody and Jenna | Winehaven Winery

On the morning of Cody and Jenna’s wedding, the forecast was for rain showers starting in the afternoon.  Jenna had fallen in love with Winehaven Winery when she first toured it and had dreamed of having a beautiful outdoor wedding in the midst of the vineyard, overlooking the pond.  It seemed like that wasn’t going to be possible.  We moved pictures up a little to be able to fit those in outside before the rain.  And then our prayers were answered and the rain went around us!  It was absolutely perfect with the Fall colors just starting to show. The white chairs in the middle of the rows of vines and the beautiful floral covered arbor made for a breathtaking setting. Winehaven is seriously a stunning venue!

Everything could not have gone smoother.  From the adorable bubble blowing ring bearer to the personalized vows and the amazing family and friends who came to celebrate with Cody and Jenna, I feel pretty safe in saying it was their dream come true.  Five years earlier they had first met, and now five years later they said “I do” to starting their life together.  Cody and Jenna, may life be full of many more days just as magical as this one.  XOXO
