David and Anna’s love story started 2 years ago when David’s sister, who works with Anna (an emergency room pediatrician), asked her if she would consider going on a date with her brother. They set up an afternoon mini golf date and David and Anna realized they really enjoyed each other’s company. Their second date was to the Minnesota State Fair. And it’s there that David kissed Anna for the first time. One year later, it’s also where David proposed to Anna. And a year after that, brings us to their wedding day.
This day could not have been more beautiful and romantic. As I drove to Plainview, MN, it really took my breath away how amazing the corn fields were against the blue sky and fluffy white clouds. While it was a little warm for the end of September, (I think we hit 90 degrees by afternoon!) David and Anna’s wedding day was an absolute dream. I knew the venue was Anna’s childhood home and where her parents still live. Anna had mentioned there was “a cliff and a big tree”, but as I arrived at the address and drove down the long driveway, I seriously stopped my car 5 times to take photos! It was absolutely stunning! I can’t imagine the fun of growing up on this property, and then marrying the love of your life there. There was a beautiful moss and tree covered cliff, an open field and a babbling brook leading up to the enormous oak tree that David and Anna were married under. Anna’s dad had grown pumpkins and gourds to use as decorations throughout the wedding and reception, and family members had spent the previous couple days decorating with candles hung from the tree, various signs, scarecrows, and much more. So many personal touches that made this day special. One of my favorites may have been when David and Anna chose to light a bonfire, rather than a unity candle during the ceremony. Would you expect anything less from a fireman?
When I asked each of them what they admired most about the other, Anna, replied “his kindness” and David said “she exudes a sense of we are in this together”. Always remember those two traits. They will lead you to a long and wonderful marriage, and I couldn’t be more happy for you guys! Love you both! XOXO
